Hey There!
It's time for our monthly update about the Kinetic Driver project status!

Too Long; didn't watch:
It looks like you can find copies of our Kinetic Driver on the Internet. Be aware that they use our product name, pictures, videos, and description without our consent (duh!) and we have already taken legal action against them thanks to the new team member Simone. The copied product itself looks... well, it looks like a real Kinetic Driver, at least in its shape. And if you watch it from more than 2 meters away. With lights dimmed. And blindfolded. The poor materials they've used, together with a huge design defect, make these copies ugly and useless since they broke as soon as you force them to do their job: turning screws. This makes us not so prone to showing the manufacturing steps on our socials and updates, as we want to keep some details of the Kinetic Driver "secret".
We are late. We know that and we're very sorry, and we cannot stop thanking all of our backers and supporters for the patience they're having in waiting! We had a couple of challenges while manufacturing the hex hole where the bits go in: we were using a custom rotary broach to create the hex socket shape but after a few hundred Kinetic Driver shafts produced, we noted that there was inconstancy in the hole measures. The broach starts wearing off very soon and needs to be swapped with a new one. So we are now testing a different approach, based on the idea of a "punch press". The first results are really nice and there is 100% consistency between the first and the last units manufactured. We just need to work on the precision of the "punch press" but we found a partner company that has a more precise press that will surely help to keep the concentricity of the whole Kinetic Driver perfect.
We have found the best formula for the Dark Chromed: in the early prototypes, the Dark Chroming couldn't attach correctly to the brass part underneath because the polished brass surfaces were too smooth, so we solved that kind of issue by not polishing the brass and now, based on some "torture test", the Dark Chromed surface treatment won't come off.
We are dealing with the company that makes the Organizer Case (in a fancy, black-colored cork) to correct a couple of defects on the mold used to manufacture the case. We noted that some details were not as designed by us and we asked to fix them, but it requires quite some time to implement the modification because a new dedicated mold will be required.
The Covid-thing: It may sound like an excuse, but it is really affecting our manufacturing capabilities, especially because the "Covid excuse" is used a lot by the external partners we have to rely on for the parts not directly manufactured by us or the surface treatments. But hey, there's a huge, worldwide pandemic going on, and we are making all the possible effort to speed up the process as much as we can while staying safe.
We now expect to be able to start shipping at the end of April 2021, If everything goes in the right direction. We'll keep all you backers and pre-orders supporter updated later on.
We know that waiting sucks, but we've always preferred to take a little more time and correct any possible defects to deliver the best product we can, and we'll always do. Again, thank you for your patience, support, and for believing in us and our Kinetic Driver!
About your surveys...
Yes, we still have some pending surveys. Not a big deal since we will start shipping later than expected, but please remember to fill your survey as soon as you can, especially if you are a backer of the Founder's Edition Kinetic Driver since we need your survey answer to know what name you want to be put on the Kinetic Driver box.
There's a huge "bug" if you use your Apple account to login to Kickstarter, because Apple creates a unique email address for your Kickstarter login purpose, but never forward the email sent to that email address to your inbox, so if you login with Apple credential and have never received our survey email, contact us at [email protected] and we'll send your survey link there.
How can I contact you? I want more information!

Latest Dark Chromed Tests are SEXY
Hey all!
It's time for our monthly update!
As mentioned in our previous update, we're late because of the Covid-19 pandemic: it has disrupted both our and our partners' logistics and manufacturing capabilities, and having to produce thousands of Kinetic Driver(s) instead of the few hundreds we were expecting isn't helping the process. Once again, we would like to thank all our backers and pre-orders buyers for the support and patience in waiting for the Kinetic Driver to become reality!
But we're using well this extra time!
We have recently received the latest samples of the Kinetic Driver Organizer Case and they look amazing! We will show them in a separate update, coming in the next few weeks.
We're are using this delay to perfect the Dark Chroming on the brass: we wanted to achieve the most stunningly beautiful finish AND the longest durability over time, we kept tweaking the formula over and over and we're now proud to say that the dark chromed parts are SO SEXY! We've had to rely on an external partner to be able to manufacture thousands of Dark Chromed parts and once again we found the best company we could.
Some surveys are still incomplete.
Well, as the headline says... We still miss some information from our backers. Be sure to check your email address inbox, spam, and promotion folder for our email. It should have a subject like "Response Needed -- Get your reward for Kinetic Driver". Since we also miss some surveys from the Founders, we are waiting for them to complete the box design! :)
If you can't find your survey - just message us at [email protected] with your full name and backer/pledge number: we'll send your link to your survey there.
This can particularly happen if you used your Facebook or Apple credential to login into Kickstarter: they create a unique email address for the login purpose and it doesn't forward emails to your inbox!

It’s important to respond to your survey as quicklyas you can since we need this information both to continue the production and to fulfill your rewards.
When you receive the email with the survey, click the survey link to respond. Answer the questions about your reward preferences (the bearing ring(s) color, or what name you want to be written on the box if you backed a Founder's Edition Kinetic Driver), provide shipping information, and purchase add-on items if you like.
After you respond to your survey, you can go back later and change your responses at any time before we close the surveys and get our final counts: you'll be able to update your shipping information if you need to. When we will close the surveys, you will receive a "final notice" email and you will still have 48 hours to change your survey's answers. After that, the surveys will be locked and the only way to change them will be by contacting us at [email protected].
If you need to review your information or pledge status, you can return to your survey by clicking the link in your survey email or requesting your survey link under "Lost your survey?" on our BackerKit project page at https://kinetic-driver.backerkit.com.

Dark Chromed Kinetic Driver

In short:
We did our best to deliver within the estimated timeline, however, due to the recent events and Covid-19 pandemic lockdown and having thousands of Kinetic Driver(s) sold instead of a few hundred as we thought, we now expect to be able to start shipping during January 2021. We are really sorry about this, and we would like to thank you for your patience.
We made the most out of the delays by making some changes to the Kinetic Driver. The most important one is a custom-made screw, which holds the Ceramic Bearing in place, instead of having it press-fitted. This allows you to unmount the bearing for maintenance or if it needs be.
You asked, we delivered: the Dark Chromed version is available for everybody (and will be for all backers, you will be able to change color variant while filling the survey). Mind that the Dark Chromed version won't have the laser-etched number nor your name will be on the packaging: these two perks remain exclusive for the Founder's Edition.
Since we plan to start shipping while we assemble, QC (quality control) and package the Kinetic Driver(s), we will slowly start to fulfill the orders as we have Kinetic Drivers ready, so we'll probably be able to ship out about 100 parcels per day, this number coincides with FedEx shipping limits (we're also trying to find different shipping solutions).

5105 people didn't need it.
But those same 5105 people wanted to own a Kinetic Driver. I can say "thank you" a billion times but I think the best way to honor your support will be to deliver the best product we can. And we are already at work for that! I'm looking forward to taking you along on this journey (follow "Giaco Whatever" on Instagram and Youtube)!

The Kinetic Driver Dark Chromed Edition
Many of you asked for that, so we decided to offer the Dark Chromed color option! Again, you will be able to choose this color variant while filling out the survey. Mind that this won't be numbered and won't add your name to the packaging, that remains exclusively for the 150 owners of the Founder's Edition.

Thanks to the support of our amazing backers, we've now released some epic new stretch goals and add-ons!

For those that wish to upgrade their Grip with laser marked measurements, a simple additional £5 to your existing pledge amount will get you sorted out with measuring in style, available in Metric or Imperial.
Stretch Goal 3: The Grip Kit
Fulfilling a request of many of our backers, to have a way of storing and protecting the Grip when not in use: Presenting the Grip Kit! Harking back to the turn of the century methods, a traditional leather holder with brass fittings. The Kit also comes with a driver bit (you know, just because) and allen key for servicing.
